What You Need To Know

With so many great benefits at your fingertips, you’re probably excited to start using them. Here’s what you need to know to make your benefits elections.

When to Enroll

You can enroll in Synopsys benefits:

  • As a new hire or international transfer. You must enroll in or waive Synopsys benefits coverage within 30 days of your hire date. If you don’t enroll or opt out within 30 days of your start date, Synopsys will automatically enroll you in employee-only coverage for basic medical, dental, vision, life, and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. If you don’t enroll, you won’t be able to enroll or make changes until the next Open Enrollment period unless you have a qualified life event, like getting married or having a baby.
  • During Open Enrollment. You may enroll in Synopsys benefits for the next plan year during Open Enrollment, which typically happens in the fall each year.
  • As part of a qualified life event. To make changes to your benefits due to a qualified life event, you must make your benefits change within 31 days of the event.

Note: If you start working at Synopsys at the end of the calendar year, you must enroll twice — as a new hire for the current year and again for the next plan year.

How to Enroll

You’ll need the following information to enroll in benefits:

  • A valid Social Security number (or, if you’re an international transfer, a temporary ID number assigned to you by Synopsys)
  • If applicable, dependent information, such as name, date of birth, and SSN (if eligible), and dependent verification documents
  • Beneficiary information, including name, date of birth, address, and phone number

When you’re ready to enroll, you can:

  • Enroll from work. Visit the Benefits SharePoint webpage, and click Benefitsolver.
  • Enroll from home. Log in to Benefitsolver with your Benefitsolver username and password. If this is your first time using the portal, select Register and register as a new user. The company key is “Synopsys.” You’ll then be prompted to create a user ID and password.

Once you’re enrolled, you can access your benefits information through the MyChoice mobile app.

How to Make Changes

If you want to make benefits changes related to a qualified life event, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Benefitsolver.
  2. Click Change Benefits and select Life Event.
  3. Select your event from the dropdown menu. The benefits effective date will be the event date or the first of the month following the life event, depending on the life event.

Note: All changes require documentation to verify the event and loss of coverage (e.g., birth certificate, marriage documents, offer letter, benefits summary, COBRA-qualifying event letter etc.). Be sure to provide documentation within 31 days of submitting the qualified life event change.

If you’re adding a dependent, you’ll have 31 days to verify dependent eligibility and upload your documents (e.g., birth certificate, marriage certificate, IRS tax form that lists dependents) to Benefitsolver. Dependents will be in pending status until they’re verified. If you don’t provide verification before the deadline, your dependents will not be covered.

Review the list of Synopsys dependent verification requirements and supporting documentation.
